Hello Beautiful Souls! Dawna Gillespie is a metalsmith, jewelry designer, and artist. She hand fabricates earrings, cuffs, brooches, necklaces, wall decor, and ornaments. Every adornment is never-reproduced to defy a world inundated with mass-produced accessories. Furthermore, she uses symbolism to share details of her soul through: the intensity of colors and texture, hand drawn designs and motifs, significance of scale, and rarity of the piece itself. These lightweight and wearable artworks are hand fabricated from raw copper and brass using a jeweler's saw and techniques such as: piercing, patina, oxidation, etching, hammering, forming, forging, stamping, and cold-connecting. The result is a lightweight wearable artwork or adornament that is truly distinctive. She believes in the: soulful, the handmade, the connections we make. Process is ultimately why she creates. With an unwavering purpose to restore and reunite: individuality, reverence to craftsmanship, and the world's intrinsic beauty; she is connecting never-reproduced adornments and beautiful souls together, one at a time.
Dawna Gillespie has been published in Texas Hill Country, Belle Armoire Jewelry, Bead&Button, Lubbock Magazine, Lubbock Avalanche Journal, 24 Frames, and Texas Country Reporter (Fall 2020). Her artworks have been exhibited all across the US in international and national exhibitions. Along with these recognitions, Dawna is striving to make the world a more beautiful place; connecting never-reproduced adornments and beautiful souls together ~ one at a time.
