Lubbock Light Park has swiftly become one of the city’s most celebrated holiday events, with thousands of families already experiencing the magic of its drive-thru Christmas light show. Set in the expansive parking lot of South Plains Mall, it stands as the only attraction of its kind in the South Panhandle of Texas, offering an unforgettable holiday adventure for the community.
Since its debut, the park has dazzled visitors with hundreds of thousands of shimmering lights synchronized to a six-song playlist of Christmas favorites. Families have made their way through the glowing pathway, surrounded by radiant displays, illuminated tunnels and cheerful holiday characters like Santa Claus and Rudolph. These enchanting scenes create lasting memories of warmth and joy, with every moment designed to inspire the holiday spirit.
With much of the month remaining, founder Zach Maldonado is already overwhelmed by the positive response from the community and is already envisioning how to make the event bigger and better each year.
“The goal has always been to create something magical for Lubbock, and seeing how much joy it’s brought to families makes it all worth it,” Maldonado said.
And while Maldonado is thrilled by the park’s early success, he’s equally passionate about pairing the festive experience with a heartfelt mission that embraces the true spirit of the holidays: giving back.
To share the joy of the season, the park has donated 200 tickets to patients and families at the Joe Arrington Cancer Center and hundreds more to local police officers, firefighters, and nonprofits throughout Lubbock. These gestures of kindness reflect Maldonado’s belief that the holidays are about spreading light—not just through the park’s displays, but through acts of generosity that bring the community together.
“The holidays are a time for giving,” Maldonado said. “We’re so grateful for the support of this community, and it’s important to us to give back in a way that brings joy to others.”
For $30 per vehicle, families can enjoy this festive experience without the need to reserve a specific time slot—just arrive when it’s convenient and let the holiday magic take over. As Maldonado looks ahead, he hopes to continue building on this year’s success, solidifying Lubbock Light Park as an annual holiday tradition for generations to come.
Whether you’re experiencing it for the first time or returning for another trip through the glowing displays, Lubbock Light Park promises to deliver a magical night filled with light, music, and holiday spirit. Don’t miss your chance to be part of this growing tradition and share in the joy of the season.
